3 Tools for Moms to Stay Fit All Season Long

Nov 24, 2023

It’s that time of year when our offices, friends and family bring in lots of sweet treats to enjoy! It can be hard to resist a munch here and there!

I believe in everything in moderation and do not like absolute - i.e. don’t eat this altogether. Here are important reasons to reduce refined sugars…

  • Stimulates Afternoon Slump - insulin levels will spike up and then drop down quickly
  • Inhibits hormone metabolism - can cause belly fat
  • Increases occurrences for acne breakouts
  • In excess are initiators for severe health diseases i.e. diabetes, cardiovascular disease and metabolic syndrome to name a few

To help nourish your body during this time of year, I am sharing some tips and tricks to help you still enjoy yourself but also balancing nourishing good foods for you…

  1. Check ingredients of juices and packaged foods - lookout and avoid added sugars like corn syrup, fructose, glucose, dextrose, white sugar, table sugar and “natural flavors”
  2. Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate - drink at least 9-13 8 oz of filtered or spring water to help flush and drain the toxins in the body as well as replenish loss of nutrients.
  3. Balance meals and snacks - if you opt in for a sweet treat incorporate a more nutrient meal for the rest of your meals and snacks. For example, you have a cupcake in the afternoon for dinner include a home cooked rich in protein, vegetable and low carb meal with spices.
